Jake Walker Opens Up On Mental Health

I’m back after spending 5 days at a mental hospital. As you may or may not know, I have been dealing with anxiety and depression, among other things. I had a breakdown that I felt like there was no bouncing back up from. So, I decided to check myself in…

At first, I was so extremely terrified. I was wondering “what did I sign myself up for?!” – I almost left while filling out the paperwork because I would feel okay one second, then terrible the next. I wondered if I really needed to be there or if I could somehow get a grip on my own.

Well I’m happy to say I’m glad I checked myself in. I’m glad I’m not going at this alone. I don’t need to go into the details of why I was there, the big picture is my mental health was in shambles. I’m feeling so much more well equipped to go through the trials and tribulations of life. I’m also excited to share my experience with you here on Facebook and even on the radio, hoping to connect to at least 1 person who needs to hear this…

Mental health doesn’t discriminate. Anyone and everyone is subject to mental health issues. Going about those alone doesn’t have to be your only option. I’m here to say that if you have been debating getting help, you should absolutely go get it. Yes it was scary at first, but now I’m feeling much better. I also have some great tools in my pocket to prevent myself from going back down that road ahead of time.

I’m more than happy to be an ear for anyone that may be feeling out of their mind (or stuck inside it), but at the end of the day, I’m not a professional. It’s hard to ask for help sometimes, but you CAN do it, and you should do it. That’s my two cents, take it or leave it!
